A brief recess

Wednesday, June 28, 2006

So there's finally a break in the World Cup action and I must say...I have been really pleased with this year's cup. Even though Mexico did not go through it had some very well played games and really proved that they deserve to be up there with the big boys. Ivory Coast was a joy to watch and I'm very sad they had to leave early, had they been in any other group they would have gone through without a doubt. Another pleasent surprise was Ecuador who beat Poland and Costa Rica to advance as second in the group and give a huge scare to England in the next round. Finally the last pleasent surprise was Trinidad and Tobago who were playing really well and structurally sound. The Dissapointmens were...Paraguay, who looked nothing at all like the team that beat Brazil and Argentina in the eliminations to the cup. Angola, who did nothing but defend and. Costa Rica, who apparently did not realize this was the WORLD CUP and they need to go out there and play like there's no tommorrow. There's been some good goalkeepers in this cup too...Joao Ricardo, Isaksson, Bobadilla, to name a few.

Now on to the Quarter Finals...
